Loss-in-weight feeders can be used for both small to medium feeding ranges. They work with extreme precision under optimum ambient conditions. They are very flexible and can handle bulk solids, liquids and even poorly flowing products. They are used in many continuous processes such as feeding extruders requiring a high level of short-term feeding consistency. They are also used in the food industry and in laboratories by means of appropriate storage containers and adapted feeding devices. The design varies from compact constructions to modular concepts depending on usage.
Principle:When the material is fed through the feeder, the weight of the system decreases. Controlling the loss-in-weight feeder changes the feed rate and as a result the speed of weight loss matches the desired feed rate. Loss-in-weight feeder controls continuously check whether the material is flowing.
All components and/or any product they contain is continuously weighed during operation: the feeder, the hopper and the material.
Gravimetric feeders, for instance, have slight fluctuations in their feed rates. These fluctuations occur in the filling capacity of the augers and in the bulk density of the material. These are compensated for by adapting the auger speed in order to ensure the product is dispensed evenly.
Loss-in weight feeders for bulk materials consist of: storage tanks, controlled feeding devices such as augers, chutes, pumps as well as scales or load cells, loss-in-weight controllers or rather loss-in-weight feeder controllers. Optional: e.g. agitators to improve the quality of the bulk material.

Application
The easy-slide rotor support is an optional accessory for all sizes of de-mountable convey and drop-through rotary valves for hygienic and sanitary applications. It safely supports the rotor and non-drive end-plate when they are removed from the valve bore, and keeps them precisely aligned for reassembly.
Rotor and end-plate are mounted to a hinged, slide-rod carriage assembly supported by precision linear bearings. End-plate only, or complete rotor and end-plate assembly can be removed in one operation, without tools, and turned to one side for full access to all product-contact surfaces.
Design speeds and simplifies inspection, cleaning and maintenance. It's ideal for applications where the valve requires frequent dis-assembly or is not easily accessible.

Operating principle
Pneumatic conveyors use different types of blowers or suction compressors to generate the overpressure/underpressure required to move a material. Typically, the material is fed into the conveyor line through a closed feeder. The mixture of the material being conveyed and air is pushed and/or pulled through the conveyor pipes to a receiving tank, where the transfer air is separated from the material using a filter or cyclone.
Suitability
Pneumatic conveyors are suitable for medium to long conveyor distances (10-200 m) and medium to high conveyor capacities (100-30,000 kg/h). Conveyor pipes can be placed in almost any lateral or vertical configuration, thus making it easy to install in cramped spaces.

Dilute phase transport: negative pressure system
Negative pressure systems generally use positive displacement (roots type) exhausters providing up to 50% vacuum to convey materials through a pipeline to the destination where the air and product are separated at a receiving vessel with a filter, or a cyclone.
The product enters the convey line directly, or if metering is required, via a special feeding device such as a rotary valve or screw feeder.
